Almut Pohl (founder)
Almut Pohl is a civil engineer turned farmer. Born and raised in the Italian alps, she spent much of
her early life travelling and living in various countries, from Austria to Australia. Having moved to
Portugal for love, she fell in love with the untouched nature and simple life of the Northern
Alentejo. Her surroundings inspired her (and continue to inspire her) to create natural products that
emerge from the raw materials that surround her.
History
Healthy nutrition has been important for founder Almut Pohl her entire life, but it became even
more important when she became a mother. When her son was a toddler, she wanted to give him sweet treats but found herself with the challenge of finding healthy treats that did not contain added sugar or some sort of, often artificial, sweetener.
So Almut set out to develop her own. Starting with the fruit from her own organic farm, she experimented dehydrating all sorts of fruits, vegetables and even wildflowers. Amongst some failures emerged the amazing healthy sweet treats of dried watermelons and persimmons, amongst others.
More experimentation with fruits followed, culminating in the development of fruit wines, made from organic fruits and without the addition of any sulfites! And Almut is not stopping here – more products in the pipeline, as she really loves experimenting!
